The octopus has the largest brain of any invertebrate, and have proven themselves to have an excellent memory. Jenifer Mather, a Canadian biologist, claims that they have a simple form of consciousness called primary consciousness. This means that they can "combine their perceptions with their memories to have a coherent feel for what's happening to them."
